Our reliable aluminum welding rod with 5% magnesium is the ideal choice for welding and repairing aluminum-magnesium alloys. The magnesium content provides a weld seam with high tensile strength and excellent corrosion resistance, especially in marine environments and harsh weather conditions.
This rod is designed to provide a tough and strong weld that can withstand mechanical stress without compromising the material's natural properties.
Properties and benefits:
- High strength: Provides one of the strongest welds among aluminum alloys, making it ideal for load-bearing structures.
- Marine protection: Excellent corrosion resistance in saltwater and humid environments.
- Color matching: Provides very good color matching for subsequent anodizing of the material.
- Toughness: Creates a weld that is less brittle and has excellent fatigue strength.
Important for a successful result: For gas welding in aluminum, our aluminum flux must be used. This is to break down the tough oxide layer and ensure that the filler material properly fuses with the workpiece.
Specifications & Sizes:
We offer this rod in two diameters to cover everything from thinner sheet metal to heavier components:
- Dimensions:
- 1.6 mm diameter (Length: 750 mm)
- 3.2 mm diameter (Length: 1000 mm)
- Packaging: Choose between 0.5 kg and 1.0 kg.
- Alloy: Aluminum with 5% Magnesium (Mg).
- Welding method: Oxy-acetylene welding.
Pro tip: For best results, heat the end of the rod and dip it into the aluminum flux. Then quickly heat the flux on the rod so that it melts and flows down a section of the rod – this provides a smooth and consistent supply of flux throughout the entire welding process.
