Cast Iron Flux – For optimal flowability and clean welds
Our reliable cast iron flux is a crucial component in gas welding gray cast iron. By effectively breaking down oxides and impurities on the material's surface, the best conditions for a homogeneous and pore-free weld are created.
When welding cast iron, the melt is often viscous, and oxides form quickly. This flux is designed to counteract this and ensure that the filler material integrates perfectly with the workpiece.
Features and benefits:
- Increased wetting: Allows the cast iron filler rod to flow seamlessly and creates a strong bond to the base material.
- Effective oxide removal: Dissolves the hard oxides that form during heating, resulting in a cleaner and brighter melt.
- Reduces porosity: Helps expel trapped gases, resulting in a dense and pressure-tight repair.
- Easy application: Adheres well to the heated filler rod and is very economical in use.
Usage: Heat the end of the cast iron filler rod with the welding flame and then dip it into the flux. The powder adheres to the rod and melts into the weld pool during work to continuously clean the melt.
Specifications:
- Type: Powdered flux for gas welding.
- Packaging: 180g.
- Application: Repair and welding of gray cast iron (e.g., engine blocks, pump housings, and machine parts).
- Compatibility: Optimized for use with our Cast Iron Filler Rod (500 mm / 4 mm & 6 mm).
For best results in cast iron welding, the right filler material, an effective flux, careful preheating, and slow cooling are always required.
