Cast Iron Rod for Gas Welding – High-Quality Grey Cast Iron

Our specially adapted cast iron welding rod is designed for demanding repairs and welding in grey cast iron. Thanks to an optimized silicon content, you get excellent fluidity, making it easy to create dense, durable, and high-strength joints with gas welding.

This rod is the obvious choice when you want a result that perfectly matches the original material in terms of color, grain structure, and mechanical properties.

    Features and benefits:

    • High silicon content: Ensures that the weld metal remains soft and easily workable. This effectively prevents the joint from hardening or becoming brittle, which is crucial for overall durability.
    • Fully machinable: After welding and proper cooling, the joint can easily be post-machined by drilling, boring, tapping, or grinding without any hard spots.
    • Perfect color match: Provides a discrete repair that blends seamlessly with the surrounding cast iron, making it ideal for renovating machine parts or antique items.

Important for a successful result: To achieve a porosity-free weld with optimal wetting, a dedicated cast iron flux must always be used with this rod. The flux breaks down oxides on the surface and allows the molten metal to blend seamlessly with the workpiece.

Welding tips: When welding cast iron, careful preheating and a very slow cooling process (preferably buried in dry sand or vermiculite) are absolutely crucial to avoid internal stresses and crack formation.
