Cast Iron Welding Rods for Gas Welding

Cast Iron Welding Rod for Gas Welding – High-Quality Gray Iron

Our specially formulated cast iron welding rod is designed for demanding repairs and welding in gray iron. Thanks to an optimized silicon content, you achieve excellent fluidity, making it easy to create dense and durable seams with oxy-acetylene welding.

This rod is the perfect choice when you want a result that matches the original material in color, structure, and mechanical properties.

Features and Benefits:

  • High silicon content: Ensures the weld metal remains soft and machinable. This prevents the joint from becoming brittle (white cast iron formation), which is crucial for durability.
  • Fully machinable: After welding and proper cooling, the weld seam can easily be machined by drilling, tapping, or grinding.
  • Perfect color match: Provides a discrete repair that blends seamlessly with the surrounding cast iron. Ideal for restoring machine parts or antique items.

Important for a Successful Result:

To achieve porosity-free welds with optimal wetting, cast iron welding flux must always be used with this rod. The flux breaks down surface oxides, allowing the filler material to flow flawlessly into the workpiece.

Welding Tips:

When welding cast iron, thorough preheating and a very slow cooling process (preferably in sand or vermiculite) are absolutely essential to avoid internal stresses and cracking.

Specifications & Sizes:

We offer this rod in two diameters and two package sizes to suit both small precision jobs and larger restorations.

  • Length: 500 mm.
  • Diameters: 4 mm and 6 mm.
  • Package weights: 0.5 kg and 1.0 kg.
